Additional Career Assessment Tests

The following 2 tests are computer-administered at the CSUSB Career Development Center's office and take approximately 1 hour to complete. Students should contact the Career Development Center to arrange a testing time.

Several days after completing the tests, the student must meet with the Career Counselor for a 1-hour test interpretation appointment.

Fees: $10 each or $20 for both; payable before taking the tests.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) : is a self-report personality inventory designed to give people information about their Jungian psychological type preferences and how that will relate to their career/occupation choice. The results show the person's likely preferences on four dimensions:

Extraversion (E) vs. Introversion (I)
Sensing (S) vs. Intuition (N)
Thinking (T) vs. Feeling (F)
Judging (J) vs. Perceiving (P)

Though many factors combine to influence an individual's behaviors, values, and attitudes, the four-letter type descriptions summarize underlying patterns and behaviors common to most people of that type. The MBTI is widely considered to be a very valid test.

The Strong Interest Inventory : is an interest inventory designed to help people increase their awareness of their general interests and to alert them of possible activities and work that match those interests. It also matches the person's interests to those of people already working in certain occupations. Although it's concept is simple, it is widely considered to be a very valid test.
