Dr. A.B. Smith

Superintendent or Name of Title indicated

Name of School District

City, State and Zip Code

Dear Dr. Smith:

Please consider me as an applicant for the Junior High language arts position on your staff. I learned of this vacancy through my college career development center at California State University, San Bernardino. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in journalism in 1996 and will have my single subject credential in June of this year.

As the enclosed resume indicates, I am currently completing two full quarters as a student teacher at Kingsbury High School. In addition to my classroom experience, I have volunteered to assist with the school’s newspaper. Because of my interest and background in student publications, I am particularly interested in the position currently open at your district which includes responsibilities for advising the student magazine.

As your vacancy notice instructs, I have arranged to have references and a copy of my transcript

forwarded to you. I look forward to receiving application materials and to arranging an interview at your convenience.

Sincerely,

Ann Example
